Jordan Wheeler -- Parkland College
Even though she has not played her senior season yet, Wheeler holds many Blue Ridge softball records.
Her ERA of 1.10 leads all Lady Knights, as well as her 665 strikeouts, 63 wins and 22 home runs.
And now, she already has her softball career beyond Blue Ridge planned out. Wheeler (pictured below with former softball coach Myron Schroeder, who broke the news to the Sports Thread) said she knew for a week and a half that she would go to Parkland.
"I really liked the coach, and [Parkland] has a good softball program," Wheeler said. "I felt like it was the best choice for me."
Wheeler's volleyball coach, Evan Miles, said he thinks Wheeler made a good choice.
"I know she was looking there; that was one of her last two or three choices," Miles said. "I think she’ll be comfortable being close to home and playing for a very good [softball] program. Myron [Schroeder and I] will be able to watch her, too.”
Melinda Wilson -- Lincoln Land Community College
Wilson already has some gaudy numbers heading into her senior season as well.
She is second among all-time Blue Ridge players in home runs with 15. Wilson is third in triples and RBIs with 11 and 106, respectively, and fourth in doubles with 24.
