BLUE RIDGE def. LEXINGTON 19-25, 28-26, 25-21
FARMER CITY, Ill. -- Once again, the Lady Knights found a way to win a close match.
Just as they did during the past two weeks against Fieldcrest and St. Thomas More, the Lady Knights lost the first game, but came back to win the match. Just as it did with Paxton-Buckley-Loda, Blue Ridge outlasted its opponent through an overtime game.
Behind 11 kills and 24 digs from Kaitlyn Zelhart (No. 5, pictured above), Blue Ridge beat the Lady Minutemen in a key Heart of Illinois Conference match.
Emily Zelhart (No. 12, pictured below) also put up double-digit numbers for the Lady Knights, recording 18 assists and 16 service points.
Gabby Pearl (pictured below) had two blocks to contribute to Blue Ridge's defense.
With the win, the Lady Knights improve to 19-4 overall and 8-2 in the HOIC. Their next conference match will be on Monday, when they travel to Fisher.
Meanwhile, it was the opposite story for Blue Ridge's junior varsity team, as it beat Lexington in the first game only to lose the match 13-25, 25-18, 15-8.
The Lady Knights' JV team will be in Broadlands on Saturday, where they will compete in the Heritage JV Tournament.
