Heyworth 55, Blue Ridge Boys Basketball 49

FARMER CITY, Ill. -- Despite the return of Tucker Johnson from an ankle injury, the Knights fell short of handing the Hornets their first loss of the season.

After getting ahead 12-8 at the end of the first quarter and 25-21 at halftime, Heyworth outscored Blue Ridge 14-9 in the third quarter. Although the Knights outscored the Hornets 19-16 in the fourth quarter, they left their home floor with a 55-49 loss.

Johnson was Blue Ridge's leading scorer with 11 points. Travys Nichols helped him in the post with eight points.

Jon Jones was the Knights' second-leading scorer with nine points. Mark Plunk and C.J. Bishop each scored six points.

Clint O'Neal contributed four points. Dylan Grammer had three points and Trenor Hildreth finished with two points.

With the loss, Blue Ridge falls to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the Heart of Illinois Conference. The Knights will host another conference showdown on Friday against Fisher.

Meanwhile, Heyworth improves to 5-0 (1-0 HOIC) and its junior varsity team beat Blue Ridge 58-55.
