Blue Ridge Boys Basketball Loses to Monticello, Will Play Ridgeview in the Holiday Hoopla

MONTICELLO, Ill. -- After a 17-12 first quarter, the Sages outscored the Knights 23-9 to run away with a 72-46 victory.

In the first half, Monticello shot 15-of-27, including 5-11 from 3-point range. The Sages finished the game making 26-of-47 field goals and 6-of-15 from beyond the arc to build their biggest lead at 29 with 3:28 left to play.

Blue Ridge's biggest lead was at two with 6:06 left in the first quarter. The Knights shot 7-of-21 in the first half en route to a 17-of-49 shooting night, including 0-6 from 3-point range.

Will Duggins was their leading scorer, tallying 16 points on 8-of-13 shooting.

Blue Ridge committed 27 turnovers, off which the Sages scored 34 points. Monticello, meanwhile, turned the ball over 20 times and yielded 14 points off turnovers.

With the loss, the Knights (4-8) will play in the fifth-place game of the Monticello Holiday Hoopla. They will face Ridgeview today at 4:30 p.m.
