Blue Ridge Girls Basketball Loses Semifinal Game to Heyworth, Will Face Clinton for Third-Place Today

BETHANY, Ill. -- The Lady Hornets raced out to an 18-6 first quarter lead en route to a 48-38 victory over the Lady Knights in the semifinals of the Okaw Valley Holiday Tournament.

For Blue Ridge, Jeana Cheek was the game's leading scorer with 18 points. Korrie Gilbert had nine points and Bailey Clancy finished with eight points.

Jacquelyn O'Neal, Jamison Brandt and Melinda Wilson scored a combined three points. O'Neal tallied two points while Brandt had one.

Meanwhile, Heyworth's Ashley Hoegger had 16 points to lead her team. Kaley Lobb contributed 13 points.

With the loss, the Lady Knights (7-8) will play against Clinton, who was defeated by Decatur Lutheran 58-41, for third place today at 6:30 p.m.
