Blue Ridge Girls Golf Loses to El Paso-Gridley

EL PASO, Ill. -- According to one of the attendees keeping score at El Paso Golf Club on Monday, Blue Ridge's Amber Tsevelekos had a score of 40 heading into the final hole.

However, she ran into trouble on the Par-3 No. 9 hole, as she drove her first stroke into a water hazard. Amber Tsevelekos finished with an official score of 47.

It was still good enough to lead the rest of the Lady Knights. However, she finished one stroke behind the golf outing's medalist (El Paso-Gridley's Alana Payton, who shot a 46).

Blue Ridge fell short of victory as well, losing to the Titans 203-213.

Kelsey Baker was second among the Lady Knights with a score of 51.

Megan Tsevelekos and Jacquelyn O'Neal teed off together and finished with scores of 56 and 59, respectively.

Melinda Wilson recorded a 62, which did not contribute to Blue Ridge's score.

For El Paso-Gridley, Morgan Henkelman was second among the team, shooting a 48. Katie Sharkey and Taylor Vandegraft contributed with scores of 54 and 55, respectively.

Blue Ridge's next golf outing will be at Woodlawn Country Club on Monday, Sept. 12, where the Lady Knights will tee off against Tri-Valley at 4 p.m.
