FARMER CITY, Ill. -- As it has done at every racing event this season, the Farmer City Raceway held a 50/50 raffle to benefit a local charity.
On August 28, the 50/50 proceeds were given to the Blue Ridge High School cheerleading program. I bought a ticket, and for a split second thought a charitable donation would be sent to myself.
The winning number was 806262. As you can see (more or less) from the picture below, my ticket had the number 806263.
As Maxwell Smart would say, "Missed it by that much."
