Lexington 55, Blue Ridge Girls Basketball 50

FARMER CITY, Ill. -- In a rematch of the Okaw Valley Holiday Tournament quarterfinals, the Lady Minutemen won this time around.

The Lady Knights ended the first quarter tied at 12-12. They trailed Lexington 26-22 at halftime before putting themselves in a 45-27 hole at the end of the third quarter.

Although Blue Ridge outscored the Lady Minutemen 23-10 in the fourth quarter, it was not enough to pull off the victory.

Melinda Wilson led the Lady Knights, and tied with Lexington's Sydney Freed for the game-high, in scoring with 24 points. Jacquelyn O'Neal scored in double figures as well, finishing with 15 points.

Korrie Gilbert contributed six points. Gabby Pearl and Breanna Watterson each had two points while Bailey Clancy scored one point.

With the loss, Blue Ridge falls to 8-11 overall and 2-4 in the Heart of Illinois Conference. The Lady Knights will host another conference showdown on Thursday, when they face LeRoy.

Meanwhile, there was no junior varsity game because Lexington did not have enough players.
