Blue Ridge Girls Basketball 59, Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland 30

FARMER CITY, Ill. -- The Lady Knights' Pink Out game turned into a block party.

On a night when Blue Ridge was selling bracelets and accepting donations toward Breast Cancer-related charities, Jacquelyn O'Neal and Gabby Pearl combined to block 18 shots.

O'Neal came up with seven of those blocked shots and finished the game with a double-double, scoring 27 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

Pearl blocked 11 shots and tallied six points.

Thanks largely to the frontcourt defense, the Lady Knights held FCW to five and seven points in the first and second quarters, respectively. The Lady Falcons scored 10 points in the third quarter, but only managed eight in the fourth.

Meanwhile, Blue Ridge took a 29-12 lead into halftime after a 19-point second quarter. The Lady Knights got 30 points in the second half, including 17 in the third quarter.

Along with O'Neal, Melinda Wilson scored in double figures, finishing with 13 points. Jamison Brandt tied Pearl with six points.

Bailey Clancy contributed four points. Korrie Gilbert tallied two points and Jeana Cheek had one point.

With the win, Blue Ridge improves to 10-16 overall and 3-6 in the Heart of Illinois Conference. The Lady Knights will be back on the court on Monday, when they play a conference game at Deer Creek-Mackinaw.
